Clubs at Morrisville Elementary
2014-2015
Chorus
Chorus for Second and Third Grade Students, 2013-2014. Children who really enjoy singing and are interested in improving their singing ability will find this group appealing. Chorus will meet after school twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:15-4:45. This group is planning to sing at Fall Festival. Please check Ms. Roberstson's webpage for details. Chorus will be repeating at least one song from the first grade Fairy Tale Ball: "The Three Little Pigs: A Howling Success Story." Other songs will include "Kooky Kookaburra," a jazzy version of "Humpty Dumpty," . . .
Drumming
Drumming for Fourth and Fifth Grade Students, 2013-2014. This group will consist of about 25 tracked-in students who will rehearse Friday mornings from 8:30-9:05. Please check Ms.Robertson's webpage for more information.
Recorder Karate Club
Recorder Karate Club is an incentive program for the recorder in which students learn pieces in increasing difficulty. Students who wish to earn "belts" (or ribbons) may come to Recorder Karate Club and perform their songs. Recorder Karate Club will meet on Thursday mornings from 8:30-9:05. You may come for a few minutes or you may come for the entire time. It is not necessary to come every week. Come as you wish; come as needed! Ms. Robertson will be available during that time to listen to you perform and/or to assist you in recorder playing. Students needing extra help in recorder playing are certainly welcome to come during this period. Recorder Karate Club is open to ALL fourth and fifth grade students. Third grade students are welcome to come after the winter holidays.
State Honors Chorus
Students in fourth- or fifth-grade who enjoy singing may wish to audition for the North Carolina State Elementary Honors Chorus. It's a tough audition, yet a truly wonderful experience. Last year, three students auditioned and we're proud one was accepted! Please see Ms. Robertson ASAP if you're interested. Rehearsals will start very soon. The audition tape is due September 14. If accepted, the performance takes place in Winston-Salem in November.
Science Olympiad (3rd-5th)
Students in the Science Olympiad Club will prepare to compete in the regional competition in March. Participants will study and prepare for the challenges weekly with parental help. Activities involve the exploration of life science, botanic, biology, chemistry,physics, and engineering. Please see Ms. Ferreira's webpage for more information.
Chemistry Club (4th-5th) Members of the Chemistry Club will explore the basic concepts of chemistry such as molecules and reactions. Students will be presenting their final products during the Morrisville Science Fair. Students must fill out an application to participate in this club. This club is available to 3rd through 5th grade students. Please see Ms.Ferreira's website for more information. Students must complete an application prior to acceptance into this club.
Chess Club

Walking Club
This club meets every Friday for K-2. Students are to check in with their classroom teachers, unpack, and go to the track to meet Mrs. Bowman, our school's Guidance Counselor. Students will return to their classrooms by 9:10.
Jump Rope Club
Jump Rope Club will meet on Fridays in the multi-purpose room at 8:30. Students will return to their classroom by 9:10. This club is for grades 3-5. Students are required to try out for this club. Please see Coach Brady's webpage for more information.
Running Club
Running Club will meet during the months of September through November. The club will be held twice during the week. The goal is for students to run a 5K at the end of training! Please check Coach Brady's webpage for more information on this club.
Art Club
There will be 2 Art Clubs this year, K-2 and 3-5. Please see Mrs. Brockway's website under faculty, then specialists, on Morrisville's main webpage for more information.
Book Club
Book Club is for students in grades 3-5. You must fill out an application to participate in this club. Please check Morrisville Elementary's main website under the news section or contact Ms. Minton for more information.
Where: Morrisville School Library (Snacks are OK but we want to keep the library clean and critter free. Students will not be permitted to visit the teacher’s lounge for snacks.)
French Club
French Club will gather and discuss France and other French speaking countries, simple vocabulary, holidays, food, songs, games, art, and sports. An application must be completed to join this club and a limited number of members will be accepted. Please see Mrs. Baker for more information.
Green City Robotics Club
We are excited to once again offer a robotics club at MES. The club's primary focus will be on investigating the use of alternative energy to power a model city. It will incorporate LEGO Mindstorms Technology as well as student ingenuity in an effort to build the most energy efficient city possible. Students with strong math and science interests are encouraged to apply! Due to the limited resources available at this time the club will be very small and consist of a small group of 4th and 5th graders.
