I think it means glossy. If it was too smooth the character could have sliped of and fell . He probably not like that. That is what helped me find the guess that slick means glossy.

I think that the word slick means slippery because in the poem he is checking the board to make sure it is safe. Also in the the poem the stuff he does involves making sure he does not fall off.

I think slick means that something is slippery normally because something is wet. When something is slick it is easy slip because it's so slippery. The words in the poem that I used to determine what slick meant were that the poet said the character checked to see if the diving board was not to slick. If the character was checking this it was probably to make sure the character didn't fall. The character also made sure the cloth wouldn't slip and things slip when something is slick.

I know that slick means slippery cause he is saying ways he could fall and slipping is a way you can fall. Also it makes since in the sentence.

The word slick means slippery. The reason why the boy on the diving board is making sure it is not too slick is so he does not fall off. When people jump into the pool, some of the water splashes onto the diving board. That is why the boy was making sure there was no water on the diving board.

I think the word slick in paragraph 3 means not to wet or slippery. I think that because in the text it said "He made sure its not to slick." So he wants to make sure he dose NOT slip of.

Also, in my life, I have spilled water, and it has made it slippery. So, this prooves that, when things are wet, they get slippery. He ( the character), was also stalling with the word slick in the poem. He said, "he was just checking to see if the diving board wasn't to slick."
